Halimar is a traditional family resort that has hosted guests since 1940. The
name was created from "Haliburton di Mare", which expresses its unique location
on the famous Lake Kashagawigamog, in the centre of the Haliburton
Highlands. Many
remember the old saying... "it's not
so far to Halimar."
Halimar is set on the placid shorelines of Lake Kashagawigamog, part of a
magnificent chain of 5 lakes. The pristine waters have been drawing guests back
year after year for the fantastic fishing, excellent water activities or simply
to capture the timeless beauty found in the sun sets. Halimar Resort's fabulous grounds continue to offer the best view of Lake Kashagawigamog.
In it's more than 60 year
history, Halimar changed ownership five times. The Henry's are responsible for
most of the buildings and facilities during their 30 year ownership. Halimar
boasted the first heated swimming pool (still the biggest, & only pool with
diving board), and an asphalt tennis court (now artificial grass), in the
Haliburton Highlands.
In 1987, Angela & Jürgen
Haedicke immigrated with their family from Germany. They immediately fell in love with the
beautiful property and its huge potential. Over the years, Jan worked and learned with his father, Jürgen, to build the resort's business. Various renovations and upgrades were completed, bringing the accommodations & facilities up to today's standards, while adding a distinctive European flair. In November 2002, after 15 successful years, Jürgen and Angela retired.
The family tradition continues. Jan, Suzanne, Jacob and Lucas are always very happy to welcome back old friends and many new guests to discover this hidden treasure. A constant effort to maintain the property's high standard and quality is consistently being demonstrated. With each visit, you are sure to find new upgrades and many improvements to the facilities. Halimar is one of Ontario best resort values for family vacations and couples getaway. Start your tradition at Halimar Resort!
